Last Match Before Summer Break: Zhixin Wu Dominates CCTTA Top 8 Open, July 2026

The final competitive table tennis of the season before the summer break took place on July 26, 2026, at the CCTTA Top 8 Open. What unfolded was a clean, high-level knockout tournament that ended with a dominant performance from Zhixin Wu.

Path to the Title

Zhixin Wu’s side of the draw was relatively smooth. He moved through the early rounds with solid wins and then produced a very strong run:

• Beat Volodymyr Rudsky 3-1 in Round 2
• Defeated Mykola Shkil 3-0 in the quarterfinals
• Crushed Veerman Singh 3-0 in the semifinals
• Then shut out Sandeep Singh 3-0 in the final

The final was particularly one-sided. Zhixin Wu’s penhold style with pips on both sides (long and short) completely disrupted Sandeep’s powerful attacking game. Sandeep tried to push the pace and use his power, but the awkward spin and bounce from the pips made it extremely difficult to generate clean attacks. Zhixin stayed patient and clinical, closing the match 3-0.

The Other Half: Drama and Close Calls

The bottom half of the bracket produced much more tension.

Sandeep Singh had to survive a very tough quarterfinal against Zakria Rahime. The match went the distance (3-2). Sandeep led 10-6 in the deciding game before Zakria fought back to 10-10, but Sandeep eventually closed it out 14-12. It was the kind of comeback that can change a player’s momentum for the rest of the day.

In the other quarter of that half, Isaak Krut also had a battle, eventually defeating Chris Chen and advancing to the semifinals. There he lost to Sandeep 3-1.

Third Place

The 3rd/4th place match was between Veerman Singh (the lefty with long pips on the backhand) and Isaak Krut. Veerman took the bronze.
